THE ROYAL HOTEL
Founded in 1888, The Royal Hotel has long been a landmark of the Paddington community. In late 2025, I was given the brief to rebrand this historic venue while preserving the character and story that have defined it for over a century. Through extensive research and concept development, I created a visual identity that honours the pub’s heritage while giving it a refined and contemporary presence. The final branding combines hand-drawn vintage-inspired elements with a regal colour palette, resulting in an elevated yet welcoming identity that can seamlessly translate across a wide range of applications.
The goal was to capture the timeless spirit of The Royal Hotel — the Queen of Paddington.

The focus of this project was to create something that felt authentic to an already established brand. By researching The Royal Hotel and its role within the local community, I was able to identify key themes and visual elements that guided the creative direction.

My rebrand for The Royal Hotel taught me the importance of understanding the true intentions behind a project. I used extensive research to develop an outcome that felt right for the client, resulting in an identity that not only feels fresh, but also stays true to its authentic self. Change can be a good thing when executed with purpose, and I truly feel like this way of working with design is the most sustainable approach: keeping the framework of what already exists, while always exploring further and digging deeper to find a meaningful solution. This aligns closely with my own outlook on design. It should tell a story and be an invitation to discover more.
